Width 26–33, depth 26–38, height 24–33 cm

"13 × 13" is the unofficial standard for cube storage. ClosetMaid, Better Homes & Gardens, Threshold, Room Essentials and IKEA KALLAX all make cube organizers with openings close to 13 in (33 cm), so a bin sold as a 13 in cube fits nearly all of them. Nearly: some organizers have 11 in openings, and a 13 in bin will not go in.

Check the opening, not the outside

Measure the inside of one compartment, width and height. Then check the depth: most cube organizers are 11 to 15 in (28 to 39 cm) deep, and a bin that is deeper than the shelf sticks out.

Common cube sizes:

  • 13 × 13 in opening, 15 in deep: KALLAX and most 4-cube and 9-cube organizers.
  • 11 × 11 in opening: many "mini" or "kids" organizers. Look for bins sold as 11 in.
  • 12 × 12 in opening: some closet systems. A 12 in bin fits; a 13 in fabric bin can be squeezed in but will bulge.

Fabric, plastic or woven

Fabric cubes are the cheapest and fold flat, but they sag when half empty. Plastic bins keep their shape and can be wiped clean. Woven baskets look best in a living room and cost the most. All three come in the 13 in size.

The search below matches bins between 10 and 13 in wide and high. Lower the width slider to 11 in if your organizer has small openings.
